Impeachment Action Local Activity Various groups around the country are increasingly calling for the impeachment of President Bush. Local groups in the Oneonta area also are taking action. This page contains links to further information. Cooperstown Town Meeting on Impeachment. On March 18, 2007, The Cooperstown Peace Corps sponsored a Town Meeting on the question of the impeachment of President Bush and Vice-President Cheney. The organizers said that "impeachment is the only way to make Bush and Cheney accountable for unleashing an immoral and illegal war against Iraq, and for their assaults against constitutional and civil liberties at home." Read the full Announcement and Press Release describing the meeting At that meeting, a resolution was presented that spelled out in detail the several reasons why the organizer's believe that impeachment is both justified and necessary. Read the full Impeachment Resolution SUNY Oneonta petition on impeachment At the State University of New York at Oneonta campus on Tuesday, 3/20/07, members of the student organization Students' Alternative Voice passed out a petition calling for impeachment of the president. According to the organizers, more than 200 people signed the petition, and more signatures are still coming in.
