SCHEDULE of EVENTS

Wed, March 19:

Delegation to Rep. Michael Arcuri’s Utica office (11 am) to deliver messages about the cost of the war.  Some will deliver messages, others will stand outside with signs re: the cost of the war.  Contact:  Chris Brunner 334-6095.

Cooperstown vigil, 12:30- 1:30 PM, in front of post office on Main St.

Norwich candlelight vigil on Courthouse Square, 5:30-7 PM - No More War; Wage Peace.  Contact:  Chris Brunner 334-6095.

Thurs, March 20 - 4 - 5:30 PM - Die-in on Oneonta's Main St Plaza.  Volunteers will impersonate soldiers killed in Iraq, others will read and write names of soldiers who have died.  Led by Cynthia Benjamin of Military Families Speak Out.  Contact:  Paddy Lane 263-5817.

Sat, March 22 - Vigil in Margaretville (11-noon) -- parking lot across from A&P.  Banners & signs welcome.

Wed, March 26  - Die-in in Delhi and visit to Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand's office, details TBA.    Contact:  Carole Marner  829-8451.

Wed, March 19 -

Oneonta vigil on the square - part procession on the sidewalk and part candlelight vigil on the square.  Time 5:30 - 7 PM ish.  (Details being worked out.)

Sat, March 22 -
Vigils in Margaretville (11-noon) and Delhi (noon-1 PM).  Norwich noon-1 PM.

Earlier events:

Thurs-Sun, March 13-16, 2008 - Winter Soldier event outside Washington DC where Iraq veterans will share what it is really like on the ground in Iraq.  We are seeking to get a live feed of this in Oneonta, perhaps at both campuses.  Can be streamed on home computers, see http://ivaw.org/wintersoldier/howtowatch.

Friday, March 15, 2008 - Ecumenical peace witness for Iraq at chapel of Presbyterian Church, Cooperstown. 
5 PM - Reading of names of soldiers who have died in Iraq. 
7 PM - Worship and prayer service followed by candlelight procession through town, returning to the church.  Reading of names and commemoration of Iraqis who have also died will continue through the night until complete.

March 6-9, 2008 - Visit by Daniel Black, Iraq Veterans Against the War

Thurs, March 6 - 

5 PM - Dan arrives at Autumn Cafe in Oneonta for dinner with student organizers from both campuses.

7 PM - Talk at Shineman Chapel, Hartwick

Friday, March 7 -

10:00 a.m. - Talk at Little Theater, Alumni Hall, SUCO

2:00 p.m. - Talk at IRC - 2, SUCO

6:30 PM - Chili fundraising houseparty for IVAW at the home of Norman Ehrlichman, east Oneonta.  Contact nerlichman@msn.comor phone 431-9117 and ask for details.

Sat, March 8 -

Vigil in Norwich noon-1 PM.  Dan will be present at the vigil.

Lunch with Dan

2 PM - "A Conversation with an Iraq Veteran," with Iraq veteran Dan Black, at the Guernsey Memorial Library, Court St., Norwich, NY. For more information call 607-334-6095.

6 PM - arrive Columbus Community Church (N of New Berlin)

7 PM - talk at Columbus Community Church

Sunday, March 9 -

Morning, afternoon - FREE

Evening - gathering at the home of Sandy Twang in New Berlin with youth and parents of soldiers who are in Iraq/Afghanistan.  Specifics TBA

Events in Cooperstown, Cherry Valley, Delhi, Norwich, Utica, Binghamton on the fourth anniversary of our invasion of Iraq. Numerous events were held locally Friday, March 16, 2007 through Tuesday on the fourth anniversary of the war to protest our continuing occupation of Iraq and urge that we bring the troops home now.
