Meeting Notes

CfD Business Meeting, June 21, 2007

at the First United Methodist Church of Oneonta

As it may be a while before the minutes are out, folks may be interested to know the highlights of CfD's business meeting last week:

NEWS BRIEF FROM CFD - from 6-21-07 meeting

We collected $2137.25 for our newspaper ad.  We will publish in the Daily Star (June 30) and Cooperstown Crier (June 28) for a total cost of $1238.  At the meeting, we also decided to publish in the Norwich Evening Sun, as Norwich people have done a lot of circulation of the ad and have already researched the cost and are ready to submit it for publication.  This will just about clean us out of the money we have collected (cost for the Sun is $895.47).

We approved a constitution for CfD, as we are applying for 501c4 status.  It will be sent out with the minutes.

We approved the creation of a policy committee (you've seen the announcement about it).  Nick Albaugh was empowered to convene this committee.

We seem to like the idea of having a plenary session, similar to our annual meeting, twice a year so that folks have the opportunity to find out more in depth about what's going on with our issues--perhaps in the fall and in the spring.

A description of the responsibilities of the co-chairs of CfD was discussed and will be circulated with the minutes.  We decided to have a nominating committee to bring forward a slate of candidates for co-chairs, secretary and treasurer of CfD.  We will choose this nominating committee at our next meeting.  If you are interested in being a part of this committee, please either come to the next meeting or let Ed or Paddy know that you are interested.

The Health Care Work Group gave a very strong presentation to the Otsego County Board on June 6 advocating a single payer medical plan for the nation, and other issues groups have been quite active in the past month (esp. the Environmental Work Group).

Please stay tuned for the full minutes of our meeting!

Paddy
